Tell me what's on your mind.
Write to me ↓Everybody has something that weighs on their mind.
And quite often, it's the thing we don't feel we can tell anyone.
So tell me yours.
A few lines is enough. Unpolished is better. Give me the 2am version, not the one you'd present to the board. It might be a lease, a co-founder, a marriage, a career decision, a strange feeling you can't quite explain, or something you've been pretending isn't bothering you.
I don't much mind what it is.
I'll read it and get back to you within 24 hours.
Sometimes I'll give you a plan. Sometimes I'll ask the question underneath the question you actually asked. And sometimes I'll tell you the thing you already know — but have been rather skilfully avoiding saying out loud.
My thoughts are free. Whether they're valuable is for you to decide.
If they help, you can leave a small token. If they don't, at least you've had the opportunity to tell someone without having to worry about what they think of you.
I'd like to think that if we all helped each other out a little more, the world would be a better place.
For the past twenty-five years, I've built and operated hotels, bars, restaurants and clubs across Asia — Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei.
It's a career that has made me a globetrotter, introduced me to an extraordinary number of people, and taught me that the most interesting problems are rarely the ones written down on paper.
I've sat across tables from investors, founders, employees, partners, friends and complete strangers. I've negotiated deals, made mistakes, started again, and learned — sometimes the hard way — that the obvious answer isn't always the right one.
I have a Master's degree, a marriage that ended after thirteen years, two young children, and a fairly relentless habit of getting back up when life knocks me down.
I don't have all the answers.
I'm not a therapist, a life coach, or someone who has figured life out. I simply have twenty-five years of experience making decisions, dealing with people, getting things wrong, and occasionally getting things very right.
And I've always been interested in what people really mean when they say, "I'm fine."
So if there's something on your mind and you don't know who to talk to about it, send it my way.
I'll listen.
I'll give you my honest view.
And I won't judge you.
You'll hear back within 24 hours.
No charge. Never will be. But if what came back was worth having, you can leave a small token — whatever feels right to you.
DonateI'm not a doctor, a lawyer, a therapist or a financial adviser. Anything medical, legal or financial needs someone accountable for the advice — I'll say so and point you on.
And if you're in real distress, or thinking about harming yourself, please don't write to a stranger and wait. Contact a crisis line where you are, or someone who can be with you today. I mean that kindly, and I'd rather say it than not.
